How can Alpine forests keep providing clean water, biodiversity, carbon storage, and recreation in a rapidly changing world?

Climate change, land abandonment, and rising management costs are putting these vital ecosystems and the services they provide at risk. At the same time, new solutions are needed to ensure that forest owners and managers can continue to maintain them sustainably.

That’s where the Alpine Winter School 2025, organized by Forest EcoValue, comes in!

Join a three-day online training to discover how to assess ecosystem services and design sustainable business models and payment schemes to secure their future!

By the end of the Winter School, participants will:

  • Recognize the value of Alpine forests for local communities and society
  • Identify and assess key ecosystem services
  • Explore and adapt business models that sustain multiple services
  • Evaluate their ecological, economic, and social viability
  • Discuss practical opportunities and challenges for ecosystem service markets from both bottom-up and top-down perspectives

Who should apply?

  • Forest owners, managers, operators, policymakers, NGOs, and value chain actors active in the Alpine region
  • Stakeholders engaged in forest ecosystem service markets relevant to the Alpine area

The three-day event will be held in English. Apply here by November 12, 2025
